Introduction
Protecting your personal data is very important to us. We strictly comply with the provisions of data protection laws, in particular the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the new Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG).
Below, we would like to inform you about the type of data we collect and how we process and use it on our website when you use the SciComm Catalogue.
General Information on Data Processing
We process personal data of our users only to the extent necessary to provide a functional website as well as our content and services. The processing of personal data of our users generally takes place only with the user’s consent. An exception applies in cases where obtaining prior consent is not possible for technical reasons and the processing of the data is permitted by legal provisions.
Where we obtain consent from the data subject for processing operations involving personal data, Article 6(1)(a) of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) serves as the legal basis.
When processing personal data is necessary for the performance of a contract to which the data subject is a party, Article 6(1)(b) GDPR serves as the legal basis.
If processing personal data is necessary to comply with a legal obligation to which our institute is subject, Article 6(1)(c) GDPR serves as the legal basis.
If processing is necessary to safeguard a legitimate interest of our institute or a third party and the interests, fundamental rights, and freedoms of the data subject do not override that interest, Article 6(1)(f) GDPR serves as the legal basis for processing.
The personal data of the data subject will be deleted or blocked as soon as the purpose of storage no longer applies.
Storage may also occur if provided for by European or national legislators in EU regulations, laws, or other provisions to which our institute is subject. Data will also be blocked or deleted when a storage period prescribed by these regulations expires, unless further storage of the data is necessary for the conclusion or performance of a contract.
