Scope
The Leibniz Labs Science Communication Catalogue (hereinafter "SciComm Catalogue") is operated by the German Institute for Adult Education – Leibniz Centre for Lifelong Learning e.V., Heinemannstraße 12–14, 53175 Bonn, Germany (hereinafter “the provider”).
The SciComm Catalogue is an online portal for the collection and provision of scientific publications and publications on science communication related to the topics of the Leibniz Labs 'Pandemic Preparedness' and 'Systemic Sustainability'.
Use
Use of the SciComm Catalogue is free of charge and does not require registration.
The following Terms of Use govern the handling of materials within the SciComm Catalogue; the applicable license models (in particular variants of the Creative Commons license) remain unaffected.
These Terms of Use shall also apply if the service is accessed from outside the Federal Republic of Germany.
Conditions of Use
Materials may be used by all users in accordance with the displayed license.
Users must respect the rights of the provider and other rights holders.
Legal Compliance
Users are prohibited from impairing the functionality of the SciComm Catalogue through technical actions (e.g., scripts, hacking attempts, viruses, worms, trojans, brute-force attacks, etc.).
Rights and Duties of the Provider
The provider may change the functionality, appearance, and terms of use of the SciComm Catalogue at any time. There is no guarantee of error-free or uninterrupted access. The provider reserves the right to block access to specific materials.
Warranty
The provider ensures the best possible display of content according to standard technical requirements.
Users acknowledge that data and services may not always be available. The provider is not liable for service outages due to unsuitable software/hardware, network issues, or third-party failures.
Provider’s Liability
The provider does not guarantee uninterrupted access to the SciComm Catalogue. Server outages caused by technical issues or other circumstances beyond the provider’s control (including force majeure or third-party fault) do not give rise to any user claims.
All materials published on this portal have been carefully reviewed. Nevertheless, the provider makes no warranties regarding the accuracy, completeness, timeliness, or quality of the information provided. Any liability claims against the German Institute for Adult Education e.V. for material or non-material damages resulting from the use or non-use of the information provided, or from incorrect or incomplete information, are excluded unless there is proven intentional misconduct or gross negligence on the part of the provider.
Where the provider refers directly or indirectly to external websites (“links”), liability shall only arise if the provider has actual knowledge of unlawful content and it is technically feasible and reasonable to prevent its use.
The provider assumes no responsibility for the content, availability, accuracy, or reliability of linked websites, their offers, links, or advertisements. The provider is not liable for illegal, incorrect, or incomplete content, nor for any damages arising from the use or non-use of information provided on linked sites.
Third-Party Rights Violations
The provider endeavors to comply with all applicable copyright laws in the materials published on this portal. Should a copyright infringement nevertheless occur, the provider will, upon notification, promptly remove the respective item or appropriately attribute it to the rightful copyright holder.
If users become aware of any legal infringement, they are required to inform the provider without delay. Upon receipt of such notice, the provider will immediately restrict access to the relevant content.
Data Protection
Every user has the right to obtain, at any time and free of charge, information regarding the personal data stored about them. Users also have the right to request the correction or deletion of their personal data at any time. Further details are set out in the Privacy Policy.
Amendment of Terms of Use
The provider reserves the right to amend these Terms of Use at any time without providing reasons, provided that such changes are reasonable for the user. A change shall be deemed reasonable if it does not affect any essential obligations or rights of either the user or the provider.
Modification of Scope of Services
The provider is under no obligation to make the SciComm Catalogue permanently available in its current scope or at all. The provider reserves the right to discontinue the operation of the SciComm Catalogue, either permanently or temporarily, and may do so without prior notice.
The provider makes no representations or warranties regarding the scope or availability of the SciComm Catalogue. In particular, the provider reserves the right to make access to the portal subject to prior registration.
Choice of Law and Applicable Jurisdiction
The portal is operated by the provider from its principal place of business. The offering is primarily intended for an audience in Germany and shall be governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany. Accordingly, the parties agree that the applicable law shall be the law of the Federal Republic of Germany, provided that this does not exclude any mandatory provisions of the user’s country of residence if the user is a consumer.
Severability Clause
Should any provision of these Terms of Use be or become invalid or unenforceable, the validity of the remaining provisions shall not be affected.
